Install Office Without Microsoft Account
Had a trial version of Office on my tower - a 64 bit Home that was set up with only a local account. The trial expired so I bought Office - Home & Student 2016. When I click on one of the desktop icons for any of the components of Office I get a message box telling me that my subscription has expired. I have 3 choice boxes:
- Buy - I want to renew or buy Office
- Enter Key - I have a product key
- Sign In - Add this computer to an active account
Install Office 2016 Without Microsoft Account
Buy takes me to a screen where they want me to RENT the damn product. Enter Key
Update: If you are installing Windows 10 Creators Update version 1704, see this article: Install Windows 10 Creators Update Without Microsoft Account. Start installing Windows 10 from a bootable USB drive or your installation DVD. Download and install the trial version of office 2010 then image the PC. When you have an image on a new machine open office and it will ask you whether you want to use the trial version or buy a version. There are no imaging rights with OEM or FPP licenses. You have reimaging rights for the SAME product that is a VL product.
takes to an entry screen where after I input my key it wants me to sign in to a Microsoft Account, which I do not have and do not want. Sign In is obviously not the answer.Am I missing something with this? I am the helpdesk manager for a company of about 200 employees. We buy our laptops from Dell with a Office H&B key. A new laptop given to us last week came with a key for 2016. As I'm trying to set it up I have no choice but to sync it with a Live Account?!
I am not going to make a Live Account for my users and force them to use it.
I am not going to use a general account to sync all copies of Office together for all of new employees going forward.
This is ridiculous considering 2013 had to ability to skip syncing. I can't even activate this thing on my users laptop...
What the heck am I supposed to do going forward? This is absolutely ridiculous that they are forcing companies to do this! Since you can't transfer a key to another account, what do I do if my user quits? Throw away a $300 key and buy a new one for my new user?
If anyone has any ideas or advice on how they're handling this, please let me know. At this point I will push to move the company over to Open Office before I will allow 2016 to be installed on my computers.
